Your detective nickname
This is optional. If you never touch this page you stay a number, and the ranking works exactly the same.
What the number is
The first time you cast a verdict, your browser makes up a random id and keeps it in its own storage. We never see who you are: there is no account, no e-mail, no password and nothing tying that id to a person.
The number shown next to you in the ranking is derived from that id. Clear your browser storage and the id is gone for good, along with the record attached to it.
Because the id lives in this browser, your record does not follow you to another device. That is the price of not asking you to register, and we think it is a fair one.
What happens to a nickname
A nickname is checked by a moderator or an administrator before it appears anywhere on the site. Until then you keep showing up as your number. We are looking for two things only: advertising, and anything obscene or hateful.
A rejected nickname is simply not shown; you can pick another one whenever you like. Nothing else about your record changes.
Want a nickname taken down for good, or think somebody else's should be? Write to alexkiv@gmail.com and say which one. An administrator or a moderator can remove any nickname.
