All stories are the property of their authors. We host them as a neutral platform and respond promptly to properly formed takedown requests — valid claims result in the material being removed or disabled without delay.

The fastest route

Every story has a Report button directly under it — use it to flag the exact story. For a formal notice, email webmaster@swearithappened.com.

Filing a notice

Your email should contain: (1) identification of the copyrighted work; (2) the exact URL of the allegedly infringing material; (3) your contact details; (4) a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized agent; (6) your physical or electronic signature.

What happens next

Valid claims are processed promptly; the material is removed or disabled and the contributor notified. Contributors may file a counter-notice with equivalent elements, after which access may be restored as the law allows. Where the story has also been released as a podcast episode, a valid claim removes that episode from our own feed and pages as well; copies of the episode already downloaded by listeners or mirrored by podcast directories are outside our control and cannot be recalled.
