What we collect

Registered authors: username, email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash). Visitors who vote or comment: a one-way, salted technical fingerprint used solely for abuse prevention. That is all — we collect the minimum needed to run the site.

Cookies

A handful of first-party cookies for login, form protection and vote memory — the full list is on the cookie page. No advertising or cross-site tracking.

Retention and removal

You may request deletion of your account, your submissions or any data about you at any time by emailing webmaster@swearithappened.com. Removal requests are honored promptly and removal is permanent.

Third parties

Embedded videos load from a privacy-enhanced player only after you click them. If an optional CAPTCHA service is enabled, its provider processes the challenge under its own policy. We sell or share data with no one.

Consent records

Creating an account requires ticking two consent boxes: agreement to the Author Terms, the Terms of Use and the Editorial Policy, and agreement to our storing and processing of your account data and the stories you submit. As proof of consent we store the date of consent, the version of the terms you agreed to and the IP address the consent was given from. You can withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your account. Submitting a story requires an account with accepted Author Terms.
