Swear It Happened is a moderated archive of first-person stories with reader comments. This page summarizes how we keep the service safe, how to report content, and what happens after a report.
What this service is. Registered adult authors (18+) publish personal stories and visitors may post short text comments. There are no private messages, no reader profiles, no algorithmic personalised feed and no live features. Images and YouTube videos can only accompany stories and are reviewed by a moderator; comments are text-only and forbid links entirely. Every published story carries a visible Report button.
Our content rules (summary). We do not permit: content sexualising or endangering minors (zero tolerance; reported to the relevant authorities); pornographic content; content encouraging suicide, self-harm or eating disorders; credible threats, harassment or incitement to violence or hatred; terrorism-related content; fraud, scams or the sale of illegal goods; other people's personal data; and spam. Automated filters plus human review enforce these rules.
Risk assessment. Given the service's design — adult-only authorship, moderation of stories and comments, moderator review of all story media, no private messaging, link-free comments — we assess the risk of users encountering priority illegal content as low across all categories, and we review this regularly. Content that is illegal or breaks our rules is removed promptly upon awareness.
How to report content. Use the Report button under any story, or email webmaster@swearithappened.com (please include the exact URL and why you believe the content is illegal or breaks our rules; include your email if you want to hear the outcome). Every notice is reviewed by a person; well-founded ones lead to removal, restriction or escalation where required.
If your content was removed. Authors are told the reason in their account. If you believe we made a mistake, reply through Author Support or email us; a person — not an automated system — will review the decision.

Minors. Accounts require the registrant to be at least 18 — persons under 18 may not use the authoring side of the site. The service is not directed at children and hosts no pornographic content.
