Cat Sith

Cat Sith is a spectral black cat from Scottish and Irish folklore, often described as a fairy creature resembling a large cat with a white spot on its chest. Traditionally believed to haunt the Scottish Highlands, the Cat Sith is said to have supernatural abilities, including the power to steal a person’s soul before death or to shape-shift between feline and humanoid forms.

The legend likely stems from ancient Celtic beliefs in shape-shifting spirits or animal familiars linked to the fairy world. Some folklorists suggest the Cat Sith myth may be based on the Scottish wildcat or melanistic lynx populations, later embellished by storytelling and superstition. In modern times, explanations blend folklore, psychology, and cryptozoology, reflecting human fascination with mysterious animals and unexplained phenomena.
