Possession

Possession is the claim that another will has taken the controls of a person — voice, posture, memory. Psychiatry maps most historical cases onto dissociative states, epilepsy and severe mental illness, which is why every mainstream exorcism rite now demands medical evaluation first. The first-person accounts here are rarely the cinematic kind. They are relatives describing three missing hours, a changed voice on a home recording, a person waking with knowledge of a language they never learned — and the long, frightened road back to an explanation.
