False Awakening
A false awakening is waking up, starting the day — kettle, shower, keys — and then waking up again, because the first waking was a dream. Some people loop several layers deep, and the experience can be so mundane in texture that only a wrong detail betrays it: a clock face, a door in the wrong wall. Filed here because the layers occasionally leak: witnesses insist an object moved in the false layer was found moved in the real one. The jury's usual verdict is dream contamination. The witnesses' usual answer is: then who moved the chair?
