Liminal Space

A liminal space is a transitional place caught empty: a school corridor at midnight, an airport gate at 3 a.m., a rest stop between nowhere and nowhere. The unease is real enough to have become its own aesthetic — the feeling that the place is waiting, that you are somewhere you are not supposed to linger. Psychologists talk about violated context: familiar spaces stripped of the people who define them. Many accounts in this archive begin in exactly such a place, because whatever happened next, an empty hallway at the wrong hour makes an honest witness doubt themselves first.
