Omens

An omen is an event read as a message about what is coming — birds against windows, stopped clocks, photographs falling at significant hours. Every culture keeps a catalogue, and confirmation bias keeps them all in business: the crow before nothing is forgotten by lunch. The stories that survive this site's jury put the reading BEFORE the event on record — the witness told someone, texted someone, wrote it down — so the argument can be about probability instead of memory.
