Spirit Box

A spirit box is a modified radio that sweeps frequencies several times a second, producing a chopped waterfall of static and syllable fragments. The theory: something can assemble words from the stream faster than chance. The criticism: a stream of random syllables is a word-generating machine by design, and the human ear finishes the job. Sessions filed in these stories split the same way. Most answers are noise. And then one account describes the box saying a full sentence, on topic, in a relative's cadence — and the comment section goes to war.
