Third Eye

The third eye is the inner organ of perception in several traditions — the ajna chakra between the brows, the pineal gland in its westernized retelling — said to open with meditation and grant sight past the ordinary. Anatomy notes the pineal gland mostly manages melatonin. The stories filed under this term are usually about an opening that was not requested: a meditation retreat that ended early, a week of seeing too much in ordinary rooms, and the earnest, slightly shaken advice witnesses give afterwards — be careful what you practice for.
