Hypnagogia

Hypnagogia is the threshold state while falling asleep: geometric light, voices saying single crisp sentences, a name called, the whole-body jerk. The waking-up twin is called the hypnopompic state. These minutes produce a large share of all reported apparitions, which is both the skeptic's best tool and honestly measured by it. The stories that survive scrutiny here are the ones where the threshold detail was confirmed outside the bed: the sentence heard at the edge of sleep that turned out, next morning, to be true.
