The Oz Factor

The Oz factor is researcher Jenny Randles' name for the bubble many close-encounter witnesses describe: sound draining away, traffic and birdsong gone, a sense of being singled out and placed somewhere slightly aside from the world while the event runs. It appears across UFO, apparition and time-slip reports alike, which makes it either a signature of altered consciousness or of the phenomena themselves — the literature argues both. Witnesses here mention it unprompted often enough that the jury treats its absence as data too.
