White Lady

A white lady is the international standard-issue ghost: a woman in white, tied to grief or betrayal, walking a road, a bridge, a hotel corridor. Nearly every country runs at least one; hitchhiker variants merge with road-ghost lore. The uniformity is the skeptic's point — a template this common will be seen wherever fog and expectation meet. The believers' point is in this archive's files: witnesses who never heard of the local legend describing her exactly, down to which railing she ignores and where, mid-bridge, she stops existing.
